What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutritionist - WIC position at Mountain Park Health Center?
The Women, Infants, and Children grant program (WIC) Nutritionist, screens, certifies, provides comprehensive nutrition assessments, and medium-risk nutrition counseling services to participants of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC, and provides participant centered services according to federal guidelines, rules, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide participant centered nutrition and breastfeeding support services to WIC participants and offer State Agency approved resources and incentives.
- Maintain documentation of nutrition services and administrative as described in the WIC Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Assign and tailor a food package appropriate to the participant's nutritional risk(s), category, and cultural preferences and issue food benefits as set forth in the WIC Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Provide information, check for understanding, and document training to participants on program rules, regulations, WIC approved foods, use of eWIC cards, and food benefit use and redemption.
- Proficient user of State of AZ Computer Data System (HANDS).
- Document the Nutrition Discussion Contact with appropriate note after each service.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field; or Associate degree in Nutrition with Dietetics Technician Registered (DTR) certification.
- Valid Driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year or more experience in, or related field
- IBCLC Certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
