Gypsum Recreation Center is looking to hire an instructor who is interested in helping beginners to advanced. Your responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, conducting and designing your class, creating a relaxing and peaceful practice environment, teaching poses and proper form including modifications for beginner clients, teaching proper breathing, and helping clients along in their yoga practice journey. Kids yoga experience a plus!

POSITION DETAILS
Job Title: Yoga Instructor
Location: Gypsum Recreation Center (Gypsum, CO)
Schedule: Part-Time; Year-Round
Work Environment: Work schedule is varied and requires weekday hours, evenings, weekends and holidays. Work schedule requires constant attendance for short shifts. The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time. Physical exertion includes frequent walking, bending and lifting, pulling, and kneeling. Work is done in a performance type setting and can be physically demanding. Position requires constant use of voice. Job stress may include dealing with crowds, uncooperative participants, difficult individuals, and periods of continuous demand.
Supervision Required: Works under the direct supervision of the Facility Coordinator
Supervision Exercised: None
Salary: $25.00/hour non-certified; $35/hour certified; staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual and can pass the language competency test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Statement of Duties: Lead safe and rewarding group exercise classes, assisting individuals to achieve their personal fitness goals.
Examples of Duties:
- Instructs assigned classes, programs, and activities.
- Plans, organizes and implements curriculum based upon overall program objectives and guidelines.
- Closely supervises and oversees the safety, comfort and progress of participants.
- Assists class participants in developing and achieving their individual goals.
- Develops rapport with participants and responds to questions and concerns.
- Collaborates with Fitness Program Coordinator/Fitness Program Assistant/Management staff to develop, plan and schedule classes and programs.
- Communicates with staff regarding facility, equipment and supply needs.
- Sets up, take down, clean-up, before and after class as required.
- Addresses program specific risk management/safety issues.
- Facilitates inclusion of special needs participants in program.
- Manages accidents and incidents according to procedures.
- Acts as a mandatory reporter and complies with mandatory reporting guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Considerable knowledge of: exercise physiology, anatomy, kinesiology, and current group exercise and fitness practices and techniques for assigned classes.
Skills and abilities: Strong ability to lead fitness classes utilizing a variety of techniques, styles and formats; instruct and provide for the needs of a variety of ages and fitness levels; communicate effectively; strong planning, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills; demonstrate a positive, motivating and caring demeanor when teaching; physically perform the duties associated with this position; work cooperatively with others and create a positive, constructive relationship with staff and the general public.
Requirements:
Education and experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older; AND
- High school graduate or equivalent
Certifications
- Hold group fitness certification and/or specific certification for classes
- May require possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
