Overview:
The primary job role for the Flex Team Representative will be to support the facilities on-site by covering open shifts/positions left vacant by associate termination, medical leave, PTO, HFWA and other associate time off needs. As staffing needs will vary, the associate will need to be able adjust and accommodate a flexible schedule and travel to hospital locations within the hired region, to support the facility registration departments.
On-Site Facility Patient Access Flex Representative Job Summary: Create a positive impression for each patient, family member, visitor or staff while performing the tasks of pre-admitting, admitting and/or registering, routing or escorting patients, family, or visitors, answering phones, directs requests for information, answers routine operational questions, data entry, and professional staff assistance. This position will verify patient demographic and financial information required to complete the admission/registration and record this information in the electronic health record system. This position will verify insurance benefits; explain financial requirements to the patient or patient representative and collect the outstanding patient portion prior to or at the point of service. Maintains paperwork flow of the office, while keeping work environment organized. Will serve as a mentor to new associates and assist in new employee orientation. Utilizes scheduling and registration information to verify coverage and authorization for all scheduled procedures. After verification of benefits and authorization, populate price estimate tool to decide patient portion. Makes calls to patients, doctor’s offices, and hospital departments to gather sufficient information to obtain authorization and benefits collection of patient portion. Acts as a liaison between the patients, physicians, patient clinics, case management, centralized billing office, third party Medicaid eligibility vendor and community agencies. Provide clerical/office support for the facility including, but not limited to reception, registration, pre-registration, phone calls, scheduling, insurance verification, computer data entry, retrieval of medical and demographic information from internal and external sources. Provides the best service possible to all customers/patients. Depending on region working and staffing needs, there could be travel involved to and from different hospitals within region.
The secondary job role for the Flex Team Representative will be to support the other Patient Access job functions within Revenue Management. These include Scheduling and Pre-Access.
At-Home Patient Access Flex Representative Job Summary: Work from home for Scheduling team and be responsible making/receiving phone calls and fax requests to schedule patients for outpatient tests. You will complete pre-registration of scheduled patients and ensure a valid provider order is obtained. Work from home for Pre-Access team and be responsible for working insurance verification and insurance referrals, work through patients’ insurance plans to verify the insurance plans for patients needing outpatient testing. Making calls to patients to go over what their expectation is when arriving at hospitals and their estimates due at time of service.
Additional duties include but are not limited to working within the EMR to clear work ques that are needing additional insurance information, patient information or clinical information. And other duties required to support the Patient Access Department.

- High School Diploma/G.E.D., required.
- One (1) year previous Patient Scheduling or Patient Access experience, preferred.

Office experience in a healthcare environment, medical terminology, knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 codes,
preferred.
Ability to multitask and prioritization skills.
Physical Requirements: Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
