We are looking for compassionate, energetic, and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Staff (DSS) at our Outreach Adult Day Activity Program in San Marcos. As a DSS, you will have the opportunity to support and empower participants by providing engaging activities that enhance their vocational, social, and life skills.
About the Position
Position Summary:
The Direct Support Staff (DSS) role is a rewarding opportunity to work with adults with intellectual and physical disabilities in a fun, supportive, and structured environment. At Mountain Shadows Outreach Adult Day Activity Program, we focus on providing enriching experiences that promote independence, socialization, and personal growth. If you have a passion for helping others, we will provide all the training and tools you need to succeed!
This is a site-based program, and no travel or use of personal vehicles is required during program hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on support and supervision to program participants in group and individual activities.
- Facilitate vocational training, social skills development, and life skills enhancement in a structured day program setting.
- Lead and assist participants in fun recreational and leisure activities that promote engagement and community building.
- Encourage independence by supporting participants in achieving personal goals and objectives.
- Assist with personal care needs, including hygiene and feeding, as necessary.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment at all times.
- Document daily activities and participant progress accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and implement meaningful activities tailored to individual needs.
- Attend required training sessions and staff meetings to ensure continued professional development.
- Other duties as assigned to support the success of the program and participants.
Shifts Available:
- Monday – Friday
- 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

PC 8:30 a.m. -2:30 p.m.

Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities is preferred, but not required—we provide paid training!
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient demeanor.
- Ability to support individuals in a variety of activities, including personal care, recreation, and vocational tasks.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, health screening, and TB test.
- Reliable, dependable, and committed to making a positive impact.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within the first 3 months of employment—we can help with this!).
