Job Title: Surgical Assistant
Reports to: Team Leader
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Position Summary: To provide surgical support to doctors and excellent patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures current patient records
- Assists doctors with exams
- Performs X-rays on patients, as needed
- Reviews medical history with patients
- Ensures proper consent forms are signed by patient and/or guardian
- Prepare patient prescriptions accurately
- Performs blood pressure checks, EKG monitoring, Pulse Oximeter monitoring
- Records accurate anesthesia record charting
- Records accurate vital signs
- Maintain clear airways on sedated patients; performs suction on sedated patients
- Performs post-op patient monitoring, including staying with patient until caretaker arrives
- Assist with cleaning and preparing surgical rooms
- Provides support for ongoing surgeries
- Maintains upmost confidentiality
- Any duties required to maintain patient flow and any other extra duties office clinical manager assigns
