Description
Education:
- BA or BS Degree in Human Services or a related field from an accredited college or university,
- OR 1 or more years of relevant experience in the field of developmental disabilities
Experience:
- Previous experience in health care, human services, or nursing home setting preferred
- Ability to work and succeed in a cross-functional environment
Other Requirements:
- A criminal and Motor Vehicle record which meets company standards.
- A valid Colorado Driver’s license.
- Verified legal status to work in the United States.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills, and ability to use Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint fluently
- Ability to interact successfully with people in times of crisis or unpleasant environments
- Strong organizational skills and adept at performing multiple tasks at once
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
This position requires frequent walking, sitting and occasional standing and driving; occasional balancing, stooping, bending; frequent handling objects, and reaching with hands and arms; and constant finger movements. The position requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 25 lbs. The position also requires ordinary talking and hearing capability; full vision capabilities; and the ability to read/comprehend, write, communicate orally, and reason and analyze on a constant basis, and to perform calculations frequently. Work is performed using a computer and standard office machinery daily, and occasional use of a vehicle.
Qualifications
The Quality Assurance and Safety Specialist is responsible for monitoring Adult Services programs and facilities to ensure programs meet all agency, local, state, and federal requirements for service quality and safety standards.
Essential Functions
Administration/Management
- Assist in submitting Occurrence Reports to the Department of Health on time.
- Assist the Adult Services Director in preparing for all surveys at assigned locations;
- Prepare staff members at all assigned locations to participate appropriately in survey process.
- Be on location with surveyor at all times to assist and answer questions.
- Respond to all survey recommendations and ensure implementation of solutions in a timely manner.
- Assist Adult Services Director to ensure all licensing requirements at all facilities
- Review and approve all incident reports for the Residential and Adult Services Department; ensuring all appropriate follow up is completed.
- Pull and organize data for quarterly Quality Management meetings.
- Coordinate the ordering of all medical supplies, disposable and durable.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly monitoring of all aspects of residential services and day services according to monitoring guidelines as established by the Adult Services Director
- Provide back-up after hours and weekend support to residential facilities and adult services as needed.
- Share after hours on—call duties as needed.
- Provide on-site training for new hires and current employees
- Responsible to provide on-site support and supervision as necessary.
- Review all monitoring in a timely manner. Take appropriate steps to address any identified concerns.
Other Required Duties
Standards of Behavior/Conduct
- Respond to all requests for information or communication in a timely manner.
- Follow all policies within the MVDS Employee Handbook.
- Report all on-the-job injuries to immediate supervisor and Director of Human Resources within 24 hours of the occurrence and provide a detailed account of the events leading to the injury.
- Respond as a Mandatory Reporter. Report all incidents of suspected client rights violations, mistreatment, abuse, neglect or exploitation immediately according to Colorado state law and MVDS policies and procedures.
Attendance and Scheduling
- Report for work on-time and as scheduled.
- Enter daily, accurate timekeeping records in timekeeping database.
- Attend all regular staff meetings and other meetings as requested by supervisory or administrative staff members.
- Work schedule as assigned.
- Have all time-off requests pre-approved.
- Be responsible for own transportation to work.
Competencies and Certifications
- Complete all mandatory new hire requirements and training as identified by the State of Colorado and Mountain Valley’s training requirements within 90 days of hire and maintain courses and certifications as required.
- Maintain skills with computers, take advantage of new technology, learn new tools quickly, use technology to enhance job performance and increase productivity. Maintain current understanding of technical processes/equipment.
Adherence to policies and procedures
- Adhere to MVDS policies and procedures outlined in the policy manual, Employee Handbook, and other employee policies.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned to ensure effective functioning of Mountain Valley’s programming.
