Program Overview:
Our homeschool enrichment program is designed to be an inclusive environment serving children in grades K-6. We follow a project-based curriculum that revolves around dynamic themes, offering hands-on learning opportunities. We strive to be accepting of all learners and a safe place for neurodivergent children to learn, grow, and thrive at their own pace.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teacher's Assistant to support our homeschool students in their learning journey. The ideal candidate will work closely with the lead teacher to assist children. This role involves a variety of classroom duties including assisting with learning centers, managing classroom behaviors, and supporting students through project-based activities.
Work Hours:
Two days per week. Position starts in May 2025. Days for Summer are Tuesday and Thursday. School year (starting in September) is TBD, but will still be two days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support- Assist in setting up and cleaning up the classroom before and after sessions, ensuring the environment is safe, organized, and conducive to learning.
- Student Assistance- Help students navigate learning centers and projects, providing one-on-one support or small group guidance to ensure they are actively engaged.
- Behavior Management- Use positive behavioral interactions and strategies to maintain a calm and productive classroom atmosphere.
- Collaboration With Teacher- Work closely with the lead teacher to support the implementation of the curriculum.
- General Classroom Assistance- Help with any other classroom tasks as needed, including supervising during breaks, assisting with transitions, and helping with materials.
Qualifications
- Strong classroom management skills
- Experience working with children in educational settings
- Effective communication abilities
- Knowledge of special education practices
- Familiarity with lesson planning and curriculum development
- Background in early childhood education and childhood development
- Experience with behavior management and working with diverse learners, including those with disabilities
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
