Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Hyperbarics Technician to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY:
Acts as an operator of mono-place (class B) hyperbaric chamber(s).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is knowledgeable of the age specific attributes of the patients treated at the hyperbaric center.
- Has a thorough understanding of the approved treatment protocols used in the treatment of patients and supervises the proper application of those protocols.
- Is able to read and understand operations manuals, treatment tables and schedules.
- Operates automatic and manual controls to pressurize and depressurize mono-place chambers according to prescribed tables for clinical treatments and research programs and keeps accurate logs and records of the time, pressure, depths, altitudes, etc. of the chamber operations.
- Provides necessary care which includes, but is not limited to: assisting patients with preparation for diving, assisting in the management of medical emergencies, such as seizures, respiratory and cardiac arrest, and other patient care activities within their scope of practice.
- Continually monitors patients during treatments to ensure the proper delivery of oxygen, for symptoms of oxygen intolerance, claustrophobia, diabetic reactions, decompression sickness, and gas embolism.
- Ensures that the chamber logs and treatment records are accurate and complete for each chamber operation. Knowledge and competence in correctly utilizing any computer program(s) used for record keeping.
- Is responsible for the cleanliness of the hyperbaric department when on duty. This includes chamber(s), linen changes and chamber equipment.
- Under the hyperbaric Technical Director or hyperbaric Technician II, may be required to provide extra help in the wound clinic as needed.

Qualifications
Education/Certification: High School graduate or equivalent. Associate’s degree or higher in a science related field. Must have basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or medical Licensure (EMT-P, CAN, LPN, RN, FNP, PA, MD, DO). Preferred to be a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) or Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN).
Experience: One year patient care experience, one year hyperbaric experience, diving/medical or health care facility.
Equipment/Technical: Ability to operate all necessary hyperbaric equipment. Ability to successfully and competently utilize computer software for operation of department.
Language/Communication: Ability to encourage group processes. Also able to be understood easily.
Mathematical Skills: Moderate to above average.
Mental Capabilities: Must have the ability to concentrate for long periods of time in order to complete assigned tasks, with a better than average attention span in order to listen, read and remember verbal and written instructions. Has the ability to understand input from the director concerning errors and instructions.
Interpersonal: Ability to encourage group process and foster growth in others.
Performance: Must be able to handle conflict issues with both patients and staff.
