Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Radiation Therapist Aide to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY:
Scheduling and simulation of patients in preparation for administering ionizing radiation treatments as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. Positioning the patient, delivering the treatment and promptly and accurately documenting the treatment and any relevant notes into the medical record.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs daily quality assurance activities on radiation producing equipment. Records results and reports equipment malfunctions to the appropriate staff.
- Fabricates patient immobilization and beam altering devices to include Cerrobend blocks and vacuum bags.
- Performs simulation procedures to satisfy topographic/radiographic identification of treatment area and obtains accurate and appropriate data to complete dosimetric calculation. Assists Simulation Tech as needed in positioning and immobilization.
- Accurately positions patient and sets all treatment parameters to satisfy the treatment prescription.
- Assist with dosimetric calculations and data entry when required.
- Documents procedures in the medical record.
- Practices center-wide and department radiation safety policies and procedures within the As Low As Reasonably Achievable principle.
- Maintains a safe, neat, orderly and supplied work area.
- Participates in the educational program, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
- Attends all other meetings as required.

Qualifications
Education/Certification: Must hold or obtain current licensure as an RT with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent. Must hold or obtain current BLS. Must have experience working in Radiation Oncology and be enrolled or graduated from an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
Experience: Comprehension of standard radiation therapy techniques; principles of radiation physics.
Equipment/Technology: Must understand linear accelerator operations and electronic record and verify.
Language/Communication: Writing/editing English skills necessary to produce appropriate documentation and communications.
Personal Presentation: Must be able to professionally interact with customer patients, families and other staff.
Mathematical Skills: Must be able to accurately calculate chart doses, hand calculations for therapy and prescription protocols.
Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Interpersonal: Must be able to work well in small teams to accomplish departmental goals.
Performance: Must be able to take verbal instruction and practically apply it with supervision.
