Job Summary
Assists the physician with endoscopic procedures and related testing according to the doctor’s preferred routine. Performs endoscope reprocessing and troubleshooting; cleans, maintains and orders supplies and equipment. Admit/Recovery tasks as delegated. Facilitates and demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times.

Qualifications
Education/Certification: Current nursing assistant certification or a degree/certification in medical assisting or scrub technician. Current BLS certification required.
Experience: Experience in endoscopy procedures including procedural assisting and disinfection/sterilization preferred.
Equipment/Technology: Basic computer knowledge. Operation of endoscopy scopes, equipment & endoscope reprocessing units (scope washers).
Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Mental Capabilities: Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments under time constraints.
Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others
Performance: Can work well under pressure.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Sets up Endoscopy Room according to surgeon preference.
- Assists physician and RN with endoscopic procedures.
- Assists with specimens according to policy.
- Applies the principles of aseptic technique and prescribed procedure room protocols to competently perform endoscopy technician functions.
- Performs required maintenance of instruments, supplies and equipment by adhering to cleaning, care, utilizations and sterilization procedures as directed.
- Notifies supervisor of any malfunction of equipment.
- Uses and maintains endoscope reprocessing units according to manufacturer’s recommendations. (Medivator /Custom Ultrasonics or Olympus).
- Ensures a clean & tidy work area throughout the endoscopy process.
- Restocks & inventories designated endoscopy room supplies.
- Orders supplies as necessary & maintains adequate level of inventory and demonstrates economic use of equipment and supplies.
- Responsible for putting incoming freight/supplies in designated storage areas.
- Is able to accept supervision and benefit from constructive criticism.
- Is responsible for complete and thorough performance of assigned tasks.
- Follow established rules, regulations and policies. Adheres to and practices MVH
- Demonstrates an awareness of safe conditions and safe acts as related to hospital employment.
- Awareness and demonstration of effective infection control practices.
- Exhibits cooperation, self-control & courtesy in co-workers relations & job related contacts.
- Complies with attendance & tardiness policies.
- Demonstrates respect for authority, discusses problems and follows chain of command.
- Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patients rights are protected.
- Demonstrates commitment to excellence in guest relations.
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Maintains current BLS certification.
