Qualifications:
Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED
Experience: One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Equipment/Technology: Ability to use hospital information system, operate basic computer functions and software
Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, speak effectively before groups

Key Responsibilities:
- Collect discharged patient charts, assemble and file them according to department and hospital policies.
- Analyze medical records for completeness and accuracy.
- Retrieve charts for physician completion, answer incoming calls and forward analyzed charts to the coder.
- Pull delinquency charts, file charts back to main file and attach medical record numbers for new charts.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, nurse managers, co-workers and physicians.
