Follow applicable hospital policies and procedures for transporting/delivering of samples to laboratory. Provide excellent customer service on the phone and in person to all patients, providers, nurses and other medical staff. Work well under pressure.

Qualifications
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or higher. Hold a current BLS Certification. Hold a valid driver’s license.
Experience: 2-5 years of laboratory experience required.
Equipment/Technology: : Experience with computers and office equipment, required.
Language/Communication: The ability to read and communicate (oral and written) effectively in English. Bilingual is a plus. Must be able to understand medical terminology.
Mental Capabilities: Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments. Must be organized, multi-tasker, and a critical thinker.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be proficient and timely in the accessioning of tissue samples, ensuring proper labeling of samples.
- Ensure interface orders are entered appropriately. If orders are missing, ability notify the appropriate party.
- Provide excellent customer service on the phone and in person to anyone that enters the laboratory. Answer phone calls regarding specimen processing; direct to appropriate party when necessary.
- Answers incoming calls to the laboratory in a professional and timely manner.
- Must maintain patient confidentiality.
- Pickup specimens in Lab and/or OR for pathology processing in safe and timely manner.
- Work with pathology staff to gather supplies for supply requests and place in appropriate area; contact appropriate party for pickup, if needed.
- Maintain necessary specimen drop-off logs. Help with courier drop off directions and supply pickup locations.
- Help Grossing and Histology staff where and when appropriate.
- Keep accessioning area stocked with appropriate necessities to complete daily tasks.
- Follow all applicable hospital / laboratory policies and procedures to include, but not limited to patient identification, specimen collection, specimen rejection, specimen labeling, and specimen stability.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Maintain, develop and utilize professional relationships within our organization and its affiliates.
- Maintain effective working relationships between nursing, clerical, medical and allied health staff.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks and other duties as deemed necessary that promote smooth operations.
