Job Overview:

The (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) CLS III is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory. You will play a leadership role in our laboratory services department and will be vital in overseeing laboratory technical operations, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy in all phases of the laboratory process. This position involves advanced testing, complex analyses, and a deep understanding of laboratory regulations and protocols. This position will also be delegated as technical supervisor.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Be a proactive leader and identify opportunities and propose improvements, efficiencies, and operational modification as it relates to the laboratory operations.
  • Lead and supervise laboratory staff, providing guidance and training including mentoring, coaching, training, developing, and building teams.
  • Perform advanced and complex laboratory tests in various disciplines, including research-oriented assays.
  • Review and validate test results, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to interpret and communicate test results.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues and discrepancies.
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of cutting-edge laboratory technology and equipment.
  • Ensures, implement, and supports compliance with all departmental and company policies and procedures including but not limited to Quality and Safety
  • Participates in selection of the test methodology that is appropriate for the clinical use the test results.
  • Oversees verification of the test procedures performed and establishment of the laboratory’s test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system.
  • Ensures that the laboratory is enrolled and participates in an CMS approved proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered.
  • Ensures that the laboratory performs Alternative Proficiency Testing Assessments for assays that are not commercially available at least every 6 months.
  • Ensures that the laboratory has established a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed and establishing the parameter for acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout all phases of testing.
  • Resolve and troubleshoot all technical problems with the aid of the technical staff and ensures that remedial action is taken whenever a test deviates from the laboratory's performance standards.
  • Familiarity with CLIA and CAP regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct activities in compliance with CLIA and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Adheres to laboratory safety practices, including but not limited to OSHA blood-borne pathogens, HIPAA, and hazardous chemicals training and monitoring.
  • Complete other tasks as needed to support the objectives of the laboratory.

Requirements (all requirements must be met):

  • Must possess a current valid license CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist Licensure to perform high complexity testing or practice medicine in California, and
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in clinical laboratory science, medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological science
  • 4 years’ experience in high-complexity testing

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
