Mountain Views Supervisory Union invites applications for the position of Principal at The Prosper Valley School (TPVS) in Pomfret, Vermont. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a leader who desires and embraces the challenge associated with leading an environmentally focused school and a skilled staff to excellence. The elementary school is located in a beautiful valley where each classroom has direct access to forests, fields, a brook and a small astronomical observatory on a 30-acre campus. The families sending their students to TPVS have a proven track record of high expectations and community support. The school will provide high quality learning opportunities in the core content areas, the arts, physical education, and technology.
TPVS requires a leader who will foster innovation centered on place-based, outdoor and environmental education. The ideal candidate for this position must have experience with developing creative and inspiring standards-based curriculum in collaboration with teachers that aligns with the vision found in the Mountain Views Portrait of a Graduate. The Principal will have a deep understanding of teaching and learning, and effective instruction, assessment and data review practices as well as demonstrated leadership in inspiring teachers to grow and develop as a professional learning community. The candidate must also embrace working in collaboration with other principals and district administrators in building a coordinated program in a merged school district as well as potential community partners.
The Prosper Valley School is a member of the Mountain Views Supervisory Union which comprises seven towns with four other elementary schools and one union middle school/high school. The supervisory union’s operation is guided by a five-year Strategic Plan and the Portrait of a Graduate characteristics of Academic Success, Self Direction, Critical Problem Solving, Skillful Communication and Stewardship. The SU has a strong collaborative administrative team and supportive board. We welcome the addition of a professional interested in growing with us!
