Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join us at Mountain West Family Dental. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the clinic while providing exceptional patient care. As a Dental Assistant, you will support the dentist during procedures, manage patient records, and assist with various administrative tasks to enhance the overall patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and available.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records using dental software such as Dentrix and Epic.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to safety protocols.
- Monitor and record vital signs of patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Provide chairside assistance in various dental specialties including general dentistry, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Manage appointment scheduling and coordinate with the dental receptionist to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of dental instruments and work areas in compliance with health regulations.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred but not required; we welcome candidates eager to learn.
- Familiarity with Dental terminology related to dentistry is essential.
- Knowledge of anatomy related to oral health is advantageous.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices is a plus.
- Proficiency in using dental software systems such as Opendental or Soft Dent is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in both clinical tasks and documentation.
