Mountainburg Public Schools in Arkansas is seeking a qualified and visionary Director of Student Services/Special Education Supervisor to join our dedicated team. In this leadership role, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing and supporting our district's special education programs, as well as other student support services including migrant, ELL, Homeless, and other student needs programming.
Leading the Way for Inclusive Education:
As the Special Education Supervisor, you'll be responsible for ensuring our district offers a comprehensive and effective special education program that adheres to state and federal guidelines, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). You'll provide leadership and support in the following areas:
- Program Development & Implementation: Overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of special education programs across the district.
- Instructional Leadership: Coaching and mentoring special education teachers on effective instructional practices and differentiated strategies.
- Compliance & Monitoring: Ensuring all special education services comply with IDEA and state regulations.
- Collaboration & Advocacy: Building strong relationships with parents, general education teachers, and administrators to create inclusive learning environments.
- Data Analysis & Improvement: Leading data analysis efforts to measure program effectiveness and identify areas for growth.
You're the Right Fit if You:
- Possess an Arkansas Curriculum Program Administrator SPED licensure for K-12.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of successful experience in special education, preferably in a leadership role.
- Demonstrate strong instructional leadership skills and a passion for collaborative problem-solving.
- Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Are proficient in data analysis and using data to drive program improvement.
- Are skilled in communicating with and providing parents and teachers

Technical and Personal Qualifications:
- Valid Arkansas Educator Certification, Licensure and Experience in Special Education, and Curriculum Program Administrator SPED licensure for K-12.
- Clear a Background Check through the Arkansas Department of Education state and federal criminal records checks
- Clear a Central Registry Check through the Arkansas Child Maltreatment Central Registry system, a division of the Arkansas Department of Human Services
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary: The starting salary for a Bachelor’s degree is $50,000. Special Education Supervisor works an extended contract for 206 days plus an additional $3,425 stipend. Pay lanes are available for advanced degrees and experience. The annual salary is divided into 12 installments, so you receive a steady income over the contract year. Additional compensation is available for additional duties including activity sponsorship, coaching, tutoring, or advanced degrees. See salary schedule.
- Insurance: The District offers an excellent benefits package through AR Benefits Health Advantage plan options, with the option to purchase health care, dental, vision, and disability income insurance packages. The District contributes $234.50 monthly towards health insurance. - Leave: Sick leave is given at a rate of one day per month, with 10 days for a 190 contract, plus 2 days of personal leave. Personal leave may accumulate up to five days which then rolls over to sick leave. A sick leave donation bank is available.
