Position Summary :
This position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of personalized, professional and quality patient care, internal and external customer service, performance of all Interventional Radiology and Cath lab procedures, transportation of patients to and from the Cath Lab, preparation of all departmental paperwork, answering the department's telephone, scheduling of patients, entering and retrieving patient information from the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) and maintaining the work area in a clean and organized manner. The Cath Lab tech reports to the Director of Imaging services.
The Interventional / Cardiac Cath lab Radiology Technologist performs a variety of angiographic and interventional procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in under direct physician supervision.
Ideal candidate must be familiar with and able to perform the technical operations during such procedures as angiograms, angioplasties, embolization, dilations, biopsies, venograms, and myelograms, pacemaker insertion and generator changes, and other procedures as necessary; adheres to proper sterile technique at all times prior to and during the procedure. Prepares set up trays and performs patient preparation prior to procedure.
Experience with catheter and guide wire exchange techniques as well as arterial and venous access and strong knowledge of the usage of different catheters, guide wires, sheaths, contrasts, carbon dioxide and injector setup required.
Qualifications :
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- Previous employment as an Interventional Radiology Technician
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as an RT required
- Licensed by the Department of Environmental Protection Bureau of X-ray compliance State of New Jersey required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification preferred
