Job Title: Golf Operations Intern
Reports to: Executive Director of Golf & Recreation and Head Golf Professional
Status: Non-Exempt
Job Type: Full-time, seasonal

Mountaintop’s actual rate of pay will be determined during the hiring process.
Position Summary: To ensure the complete satisfaction of the members and guests at Mountaintop Golf & Lake Club by exceeding their expectations with attention to detail and courteous service. Follows the direction of the Professional staff to help deliver the Mountaintop golf experience and gather knowledge of the golf operation. This position will allow for growth and development as you start your journey in the golf business learning from our golf professionals on staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following as well as other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.
- Communicate on a daily basis with the Golf Professionals about the day’s events and operations.
- Operates as the starter for the first tee, conveying daily announcements and course rules.
- Learns essentials of the golf club fitting process through demo days and in house fittings.
- Is involved in all aspects of the tournament process, including scoring, gifts, putting contest etc.
- Serves as a caddy for unaccompanied and select member groups when necessary.
- Fields phone calls, questions, and tee time requests in the Member Shop.
- Follow the direction of the shop manager to assist in merchandising.
- Re stocks golf balls, gloves, clothing, and accessories when in the shop.
- Assists and leads in all areas of the outside golf operation.
- Assure golf carts are cleaned and washed per club procedures.
- Restock and rotate carts based on what carts went out that day.
- Charge all carts on a daily basis.
- Maintain clean towels, including washing, drying, and folding.
- Help Practice Range Attendant with the set-up of hitting stations (buckets).
- Laser yardages and change distances daily.
- Follow hitting area rotation schedule.
- Restock buckets and pick range when needed.
- Maintain chipping area and putting green.
- Fill clean buckets of balls in evening in preparation for next day’s opening shift.
- Check oil in picker monthly.
- Set up members’ and guests’ bags for play.
- Put away member and guest bags in proper storage location and in timely fashion.
- Maintain rental set inventory by keeping clubs and bags clean.
- Update bag storage daily.
- Greet members and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Load bags and move carts to cart staging area.
- Give directions to the Golf Shop and after check-in direct players to club amenities.
- Keep the staging area well stocked with carts throughout the day.
- Clean all players’ golf clubs thoroughly.
- Assure that all bags are tagged properly.
- Provide information on club policies and procedures, upcoming events, and rules of the day to members.
- Load bags into vehicle and thank members and guests for playing.
- Put bottled water in vehicles for the number of people leaving.
Qualifications:
- Valid drivers’ license and capable of driving a golf cart.
- Ability to interact daily with members and handle challenging customer relations issues.
- Willing to work various shifts and weekends.
- Basic understanding of the game of Golf.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
- Frequent repetitive motions.
- Continuous standing and walking.
- Possess ability to tolerate outside working conditions and lift up to 60lbs.
