Primary Purpose - Onsite in Millsboro, DE
Responsible for managing and implementing enterprise-wide virtual environments to support critical data, network, and application infrastructure.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and manage VMWARE vSphere 7.0.3, 8.0.3 virtualized architecture. Maintain 10 vCenter Servers, 50 ESXi hosts, 500 Virtual Machines. Run scheduled VMWARE updates to be in compliance with Cyber-Security and optimize both software and hardware bi-annually to reduce costs and increase efficiency and uptime.
- Manage the Cisco unified computing system (UCS) using the new Intersight platform. Install/Provision all UCS domain components including fabric interconnect switches, MDS switches, UCS-X chassis, blade servers, service profiles, pools, policies, templates, and firmware.
- Develop and deploy customized VMWARE solutions, Virtualizing Windows, and Linux servers support Mountaire's infrastructure. Act as a L2/L3 support for VMWARE to troubleshoot and resolve environment issues. Utilize automation tools for scheduled snapshots, VM deployments or capacity upgrade requests.
- Configure and manage VMWARE datastore allocation on storage devices i.e. Pure Storage, vSAN, QNAP and act as L1/L2 support.
- Assist in design and implementation of a test/dev environment for product testing for the team, assist in building a true Disaster Recovery solution for the Virtualization and Storage Environment and create procedural documentations to follow in mock events.
- Monitor the entire Virtualized Environment using dedicated monitoring tools from VMWARE, Pure Storage, Cisco, HPE & SolarWinds to immediately escalate an outage and resolve with the team. Create Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major outages and implement solutions.
- Build good relations with team members and business customers of IT i.e. Accounting & Finance Dept, Plant Operations etc.
- Protect company assets; promote a culture of safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science.
- 3 years' experience in Microsoft Windows Server Administration to include Server 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022 operating systems.
- 3 years' experience in virtual machine (VM) template design and leveraging vCenter Operations Manager to its right size, virtual servers.
- 3 years' experience with server consolidation/virtualization for hardware reduction and site migrations via virtual to virtual (V2V) and physical to virtual (P2V).
- 3 years' experience installing/provisioning all UCS domain components including fabric interconnects, chassis, blades, service profiles, pools, policies, templates, and firmware.
- VMware certifications preferred in Data Center Virtualization, VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and/or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP Design or VCAP Deploy).
- Proven experience in leading projects, tracking updates and documentation.
- Hands on experience Data-center upgrades.
