Mountcastle Insurance is a privately owned, independent insurance agency with offices in Lexington, Mount Airy, and Winston-Salem, NC. Mountcastle has provided insurance services in the Triad since 1890 serving commercial, group benefits, and personal lines clients.
- SUMMARY
The Controller is responsible for managing financial operations for the agency. The controller will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, overseeing accounting functions, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversee all aspects of bookkeeping in the Agency Management System including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank & commission statements, account currents, checks, taxes, and expense allocation.
- Ensure proper accounting procedures and controls are in place and adhered to.
- Train Account Managers and Front Desk Team on proper procedures for collecting payments and creating agency bill invoices
- Responsible for reporting accurate financial information to CEO and fractional CFO.
- Ensure the agency complies with insurance industry regulations, tax laws, and other relevant legal requirements.
- Monitor Aged Account Receivables and follow-up when necessary. Pay company Accounts Payable.

- QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and financial management. Experience in insurance industry is highly desirable.
