Job Description

Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty : Medical Surgical Nursing

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Monday to Friday (no weekends), Flexible / Rotational Daytime Shifts

Guaranteed Hours : 37.5 hours per week

Experience : Minimum 2 years in Med / Surg nursing, 1 year travel experience preferred

License : Current RN License

Certifications : BLS certification

Must-Have : EPIC experience highly preferred

Job Description :

Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care, utilizing the nursing process based upon theory, research, and evidence-based practice.
Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills in patient care management.
Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
Prioritize all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning post-hospital care, and delegating to others as appropriate.
Educate patients and caregivers on their plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.
Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing, demonstrating effective allocation of material resources.

Patient Experience :

Model Relationship Centered Care through actions like Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, HELP protocols, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, and Discharge Wrap-Up.

Consider patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs in all aspects of care.

Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

Use evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care.

Initiate service recovery for patient concerns and escalate as needed.

Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.

Quality and Safety :

Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.

Demonstrate clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety.

Implement process improvement strategies based on institutional, evidence-based procedures.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies.

Utilize institutional information technology for documenting nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Operations :

Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.

Coordinate with nursing management to ensure proper supply and inventory for patient care.

Demonstrate patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to care.

Document thoroughly in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements.

Professional Development :

Support clinical colleagues, patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Advance clinical competence from novice to expert.

Project a professional image, incorporating ethical principles into decision-making.

Encourage scholarship, inquiry, life-long learning, and innovation for self and others.

Participate in shared decision-making through specialty practice councils, nursing department committees, and unit initiatives.
