Salary: $36,400 - $40,000
Position Summary:
Mountwest Community & Technical College is seeking a student-focused and detail-oriented Academic Advisor to provide guidance and support to students in achieving their academic and career goals. The Advisor will assist students with course selection, degree planning, and academic progress while also connecting them with campus resources to support their success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide academic advising to new, returning, and transfer students, helping them develop individualized education plans.
- Assist students in selecting appropriate courses based on degree requirements, career interests, and transfer goals.
- Monitor student progress, provide interventions for at-risk students, and offer support for academic success.
- Educate students on institutional policies, procedures, and resources available for academic and personal development.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure a seamless student experience and support retention efforts.
- Assist with student orientation, registration, and advising-related workshops or events.
- Maintain accurate student records and advising documentation in compliance with institutional and FERPA guidelines.
- Refer students to tutoring, counseling, support services, and other campus resources as needed.
- Stay informed on academic programs, transfer pathways, and advising best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Associates degree (Bachelors preferred) in a related field (e.g., Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a relevant discipline).
- Experience: Experience in academic advising, student services, or a related area in higher education is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population and foster an inclusive advising environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in student information systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and technology.
