Mushroom Grow Manager

The grow manager oversees and organizes the daily operations of the mushroom farm grow rooms and building controls. The purpose of this position is to manage the grow team employees, production, and efficiency, to make sure the farm is running smoothly, quickly, efficiently, and safely. This includes directing the ideal growth of superior quality organic mushrooms from substrate stage to packaged product.

Full-/Part-Time: Full-time Regular/Temporary: Regular

Compensation Salary $50-60,000 annual paid bi-weekly, including 2 weeks paid vacation, one week paid sick time, 5 paid holidays per year

Responsibilities

• Direct the daily activities of the Grow Areas according to weekly/monthly goals, reached through collaboration with the management team
• Participate and report end of month physical inventory, COGS, and overall production
• Overseeing the maintenance of grow rooms and equipment
• Substrate birthing (in collaboration with production staff)
• Fruiting cycles of mushrooms
• Harvesting
• Communicating with packing team on needs of order fulfillments
• Generating & editing SOPs related to Grow Areas to be reviewed & signed off on by supervisor
• Train & direct team in:

Maintaining proper health & hygiene standards when handling mushrooms in accordance with GAP Food Safety Plan

Management of grow cycles & cycle rotation

Maintaining Lot Traceability throughout mushroom life cycle from the time of grain bag or spawn bag generation to end customer.

Proper environmental control use (establishing proper room use to grow quality mushrooms)

Proper use of control program & room recipes.

Harvesting product

Order packing/fulfillment

Cleaning of grow spaces, process spaces & select common spaces to maintain a sanitary work environment

• Work with Operations Manager on assessment of weekly mushroom yields for order fulfillment.
• At times offer appraising performance and offering feedback on Grow Team members.
• At times offering input on new hires for Grow Team.
• Collaborate on development of new mushroom growing/fruiting processes with Management Team.
• Work closely with the Management Team to maximize the operational effectiveness and strategic position of the entire business

Developing Responsibilities

• Understand & troubleshoot HVAC system for maintenance of climate controls.
• Understand & train staff on wet bulb/dry bulb humidistats
• Understand & train staff on climate controls including but not limited to

Humidistats

Air in/Air return ducts

Exhaust fans

In room fans for proper air circulation

Air disbursement tubes in grow rooms

Other Qualifications

• Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Leadership skills, aptitude to think strategically, ability to support & execute team decisions and the drive to build organization capability
• Assertive but diplomatic in dealing with others in the organization.
• Exhibit a sense of urgency in dealing with internal and external matters & leading team to execute daily tasks
• Strong organizational skills & follow through. Ability to self-direct, lead small teams & manage time to attain goals.
• The ability to develop personnel and foster a collaborative culture is critical
• Organized and able to meet deadlines
