POSITION SUMMARY

MOVE is a nonprofit organization that has been designated the Consolidated Transportation Services Agency (CTSA) for Stanislaus County. The Care Cruisers Driver is under the close supervision of the Care Cruiser’s Supervisor. This position is responsible for driving program participants safely to destinations within Stanislaus County. Program Participants may be veterans, seniors or individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities or might have mobility devices and require door to door or door through door transportation. The driver is responsible for performing daily vehicle safety checks, refueling, cleaning the interior, vacuuming and taking the vehicles to commercial vehicle washing facilities, and local car dealerships or other locations that facilitate the charging of Battery Electric Vehicles. The Care Cruisers driver is responsible for operating MOVE vehicles conforming to local traffic laws or ordinances and retaining a violation free driving record. Care Cruiser drivers are required to follow MOVE policy, in implementing safe transportation practices, seat belts usage, wheelchair securements, and guidelines referenced in the MOVE Safety Injury Illness, Violence Prevention Plan. Care Cruisers drivers are required and expected to interact with program participants with kindness, courtesy, patience and empathy always.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience driving professionally. Drivers must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid class C license with violation free DMV record.

Education:

High school degree or GED (two-year degree preferred) or equivalent combination of experience and education. Must have reliable transportation, valid California driver’s license (Class C), and comprehensive vehicle insurance. Licenses and certifications must be kept current. Fluency in Spanish preferred.

• Essential duties require the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; drive, sit, stoop, bend, reach, push, and pull; exercise manual dexterity and strength to grab, grasp, hold, and handle items for various sizes; climb steps; read, write, speak, see and hear sufficiently to provide MOVE services.

• Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 30 pounds.

• Operate vehicles free of drug or alcohol use.

• The ability to operate lifting devices, wheelchair ramp systems, and support program participants with entry and exiting from MOVE vehicles.

• Must have the ability to pass the physical examination to receive a driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Transports clients to designated destinations.

2. Provides safe, secure, and dependable transportation.

3. Engages and operates wheelchair security systems, lifting devices, ramps and seat belt fastener.

4. Treats all program participants with empathy, kindness and compassion.

5. Perform daily safety inspection on vehicles to be used for transport of program participants before and after each trip.

6. Report vehicle conditions in need of attention or correction immediately upon discovery.

7. Ensure that the vehicle is clean, washed and report unsafe condition to Supervisor.

8. Document and report any vehicle accidents or incidents.

9. Follow all driver guidelines and standards.

10. Follow all State of California driving laws for Class C drivers

11. Follow all MOVE’s policies and procedures, including those related to medical, safety, abuse prevention, and emergencies.

12.Refuels vehicles, and charge Battery Electric Vehicles.

13. Distributes flyers, brochures, and resources to passengers.

14. Understands and reports elder abuse as defined by mandated Reporting laws.

15. Upholds company policies for safety, mandated reporting and risk management.

16.All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

EFFECT ON END RESULTS

• Transportation systems are compliant with all safety regulations.

• 100% of participants are satisfied with the transportation service and MOVE driver’s performance.

• MOVE’s safety policies and practices are consistently implemented.

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
