Movement gyms feature bouldering, top-roping and lead climbing, as well as amenities like yoga studios, functional fitness and cardio zones, childcare, and retail pro shops. Each facility caters to participants of all abilities – from competitive athletes to weekend adventurers and families. Presently, Movement is represented in greater Washington D.C., San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Dallas, Fountain Valley, and Portland. JOB SUMMARY
The Jr. Associate Instructor for Programs is a passionate, motivated individual who loves to work with and teach people of all ages, provides a great customer experience, and has a desire to grow in the climbing community. The position involves top rope belaying for participants and facilitating games/activities with the possibility of training instructors on similar level youth programs. And it may include teaching adult introductory belay, bouldering or technique skill classes, all while managing risks for participants during our various programs. The programs include camps, After School programs, parties, intro series classes and other programs as needed. Part-time instructors are primarily working with youth between the ages of 4-17 or adults for 2-4 hours per class, depending on the program. At least some prior climbing experience is required, but we are excited to help individuals who are excited to learn, grow as climbers and instructors!

Communicate effectively with clients of all ages and abilities while demonstrating empathy and compassion.
Provide excellent customer service for all guests by seeking answers and solutions for customer questions.
Teach climbing skills from provided curriculums and create inclusive spaces that foster a sense of belonging.
Communicate clearly and respectfully with co-workers and supervisors about feedback and concerns.
Speak open and honestly; asking for help when needed and look to learn from mistakes.
Develop skills to effectively communicate with others and listen to other perspectives to build partnerships.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Have a passion for climbing, yoga, or fitness, or an interest in engaging with our community, and show a growth mindset through a willingness to learn and a sense of curiosity.
Demonstrate an openness to learn from others and collaborate to achieve common goals.
Interest in working with both children and adults to support others having transformative, purpose-driven experiences.
Have a relentlessly positive and upbeat attitude to inspire others to live life intentionally and strive for personal bests.
Prior experience working with youth preferred but not required.
Prior climbing experience required and prior experience instructing on any topic preferred.
Ability to work 6-10 hours per week primarily on weekday afternoons and/or weekends.
Ability to work a complete Summer Camp or After School Program. Summer Camps are typically Monday – Friday and After School programs run for 4, 6, or 8 consecutive weeks on the same day.

Starting at $15.25/hour, with flexibility based on experience.
