What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Manager position at Movement Search & Delivery?
Key Responsibilities :
- Team Leadership & Resource Management : Manage engineering staff and allocate resources to support operational and project needs. Provide ongoing coaching and formal performance reviews.
- New Product Development : Lead projects that develop and qualify new products and improve manufacturing processes, including design, testing, machinery, tooling, equipment layout, and production methods.
- Process Optimization : Drive process control improvements and cost reduction initiatives, including variance reduction through continuous improvement techniques (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Quality & Compliance : Handle Material Review Board (MRB) disposition and costing, ensuring all corrective and preventive actions meet quality standards and compliance. Write work instructions, conduct risk assessments, and support reliability studies.
- Technical Authority : Serve as the technical leader during engineering reviews and critical product / process decisions. Provide direction for resolving technical challenges and improving operational efficiency.
- Capital Equipment & Budgeting : Identify capital equipment needs and lead the budgeting process for equipment acquisition, software, training, and installations.
- Cross-Department Collaboration : Work closely with operations, quality teams, and customers to address technical questions and resolve issues.
- Safety & Environmental Responsibility : Promote and maintain a "Safety 24 / 7" culture, ensuring that all safety and environmental initiatives are enforced to achieve zero safety incidents.
