What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environment, Health and Safety Manager position at Movement Search & Delivery?
The EHS Manager is responsible for utilizing expert knowledge of compliance, laws and industry best practices to strategically lead all environmental, health, safety & security functions for North America with the intent to continually improve EHS practices, assure the safety of our employees and control the environmental impact of our operations. Must come from a FOUNDRY environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership :
Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) compliance performance.
Provide expert advice and technical guidance for EHS programs and projects. Serve as key person responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the EHS management system.
Identify and develop talent at all levels of the organization.
Lead and direct Executive Crisis Response Team.
Supervise, mentor, develop and support EHS staff.
Provide guidance on property and casualty insurance program management.
Direct the management of workers’ compensation and general liability claims including claims reduction strategic and cost-saving measures.
Monitor and challenge EHS performance, develop key industry-specific metrics and report performance.
Provide regular written and verbal reports to senior leadership on the EHS program’s successes and challenges.
Interface with management, plant and external community organizations / agencies regarding EHS issues and strategy. Serve as chief company liaison with regulatory agencies.
Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainable results across EHS projects / programs, EHS assessments and resulting action plans; and complete identified actions in accordance with identified target dates.
Review and approve regulatory permits, inspection outcomes and audit report findings to assure appropriate submission, impact, and / or action. Develop / oversee solutions and report status readily to management.
Anticipate, recognize and respond to changing internal and external trends, market conditions, regulatory legislation, etc., evaluate and integrate the information to define potential effect on the company. Develop solutions that are progressive, innovative, compliant and scalable.
Maintain active involvement in professional safety organizations, using resources to assist in the identification of opportunities related to safety and environmental issues.
Facilitate leadership team cohesion, assure rapid communication and best practice sharing with teams and management.
Own decisions and is accountable for outcomes.
Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback to co-workers and management.

Environmental Responsibilities
Develop and review all environmental policies and procedures to create a stable Environmental Management System.
Develop and implement plans of action to minimize negative environmental impact and manage compliance to environmental regulations.
Oversee all environmental site assessment and audits / inspections.
Obtain all necessary permits for compliance.
Oversee frequent quality control checks and environmental inspections as needed.
Oversee in-house training / education on federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
Obtain and maintain certification to ISO 14001 Standard.
Identify cost savings projects related to environmental management costs.
Oversee hazardous waste and ensure waste storage and disposal is compliant with applicable regulations.
Create and manage industrial waste tracking system to identify trends in waste disposal
Manage and maintain air emissions, chemical usage, and material usage.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
Develop and implement Corporate EHS Directives and strategies to reduce risk and ensure worker safety.
Direct the identification and mitigation of potential safety hazards, including investigation of incidents, identification of root causes, developing effective measures to prevent recurrence, and company-wide communication and education on same.
Perform regular safety audits at all locations.
Oversee the development of controls for identified hazards.
Oversee the management of near miss, non-recordable, and recordable injuries and create and maintain a database for trend analysis.
Perform Ergonomic assessment of plants and facilitate site teams to reduce ergonomic risk scores.
Provide consultative guidance and information to Management on safety aspects, priorities, risks, associated costs, performance, major issues and interpretation of regulatory requirements.
Responsible for construction safety program during construction and renovations projects.
Review and approve new chemical additions and substitutions.
Communicate with Federal, State and Local governments regarding health and safety compliance, host government compliance and investigation audits.
Create and implement physical security plans and emergency action and response guides.
Take lead role in large scale emergency situations.
Oversee facility partnerships with local authorities to build sustainable response relationships.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences or related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
Certified Safety Professional or other senior level EHS professional credential
Minimum 5-8 years of experience managing EHS efforts in a manufacturing setting
Minimum 3 years of experience managing worker’s compensation program in a multi-site manufacturing environment
Robust skills interpreting and applying local and international regulatory frameworks such as OSHA, EPA, ISO, NFPA, MX Secretary of Labor
ISO 14001 & 45001 system expert with experience leading an international group scheme certified system
Knowledge of OSHA programs which includes designing and implementing an effective program
Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate with regulatory agencies and senior operations leaders
Strong leadership, change execution, and financial management skills including budget forecasting and accuracy
Ability to simultaneously balance and adjust to multiple changing priorities and make decisions with speed and accuracy.
Experience creating and implementing actionable safety, environmental & security policies and training programs
Experience with advanced industrial ergonomic analysis and industrial design for the human body
Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Ability to lead and drive projects to completion
Ability to manage confidential information in an appropriate manner
