Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Shipping Lead to oversee and coordinate daily shipping operations at our facility. This hands-on leadership role will ensure orders are packed, labeled, and shipped accurately and efficiently to meet strict delivery timelines. The Shipping Lead will work closely with the warehouse, production, and logistics teams to drive continuous improvement in shipping performance and cost effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the shipping team to ensure timely and accurate outbound shipments.
- Coordinate daily shipping schedules and workflows, prioritizing urgent and time-sensitive orders.
- Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and documentation of all shipments (including bills of lading, packing slips, etc.).
- Monitor carrier performance and assist in selecting the most cost-effective shipping methods.
- Verify shipping accuracy by auditing outgoing shipments.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the shipping area.
- Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
- Use ERP/WMS systems to track inventory movements and shipping data.
- Communicate with customer service and logistics partners to resolve shipping issues.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or logistics certification a plus.
- 3 years of experience in shipping/warehouse operations; 1 year in a leadership role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of shipping software, ERP/WMS systems, and carrier portals (UPS, FedEx, LTL).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on efficiency, safety, and quality.
