Job Overview:The Peer Support Coordinator & Supervisor is responsible for program oversight, service coordination, staff supervision, client acquisition, and quality assurance within the Peer Support Services (PSS) program. This role ensures that services are delivered effectively, clients are connected to needed resources, and staff are well-trained and supported.
The ideal candidate is a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) with experience in behavioral health and/or substance use services, or a Qualified Professional (QP) as defined by 10A NCAC 27G .0104. This role requires strong leadership, administrative skills, and the ability to both mentor staff and engage with clients.
Key Responsibilities:Supervision & Staff Development:
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) to ensure a strong, effective team.
- Provide structured administrative and clinical supervision to CPSS, ensuring compliance with Medicaid guidelines and service definitions.
- Conduct monthly one-on-one supervision with each CPSS to review service delivery, client engagement, and professional development.
- Facilitate weekly team meetings for training, case discussions, and addressing challenges in service delivery.
- Monitor and review service documentation, progress notes, and billing compliance for quality assurance.
- Promote both personal and professional growthamong Peer Support Specialists, supporting their development and adherence to ethical standards.
Client Acquisition & Service Coordination:
- Develop and implement strategies to bring new clients into the Peer Support Services program.
- Oversee client intake, assessment, and enrollment, ensuring all required documentation and Medicaid eligibility criteria are met.
- Work with Peer Support Specialists to monitor services provided to clients, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
- Ensure that each client has a personalized, recovery-oriented plan and receives support to achieve their goals.
- Coordinate services between CPSS, clinicians, and external providers, ensuring that clients receive comprehensive care.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients, conducting at least one direct contact (in-person, telehealth, or phone) every 90 days to track progress and adjust recovery plans as needed.
Resource Navigation & Community Linkages:
- Assist clients in accessing essential community resources, including housing, employment support, financial assistance, and substance use treatment.
- Build relationships with local service providers to establish strong referral networks and ensure that clients receive comprehensive support.
- Advocate for clients in accessing mental health services, vocational training, transportation, and crisis intervention support.
- Provide guidance and training to CPSS on how to help clients navigate community resources effectively.
Program Monitoring & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with NC Medicaid, service definitions, and agency policies, including adherence to documentation and reporting standards.
- Conduct regular service audits to ensure accuracy in billing, progress tracking, and goal attainment.
- Collaborate with CPSS and beneficiaries to develop and update Person-Centered Plans (PCP) in alignment with recovery goals.
- Advocate for Peer Support Services internally and externally to promote awareness and program sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) with leadership experience OR
- **** Qualified Professional (QP) as defined by 10A NCAC 27G .0104, with experience in behavioral health or substance use services.
- Proven ability to supervise staff, monitor services, and coordinate care for individuals receiving Peer Support Services.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with experience hiring, training, and developing staff.
- Familiarity with NC Medicaid service guidelines, recovery-oriented care, and best practices in behavioral health.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Medicaid billing documentation.
- Valid driver’s license & reliable transportationfor occasional community engagement.
- Ability to pass a background check and provide three professional references.
- Must be able to work independently, have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines

- A master's degree in a human service field** AND at least one year of full-time experience working with the MH/SU*
- A bachelor's degree in a human service field** AND at least two years of full-time experience working with the MH/SU population*
- A bachelor's degree in a non-human service field AND at least four years of full-time experience working with the MH/SU population*
