Financial Assistance

This position is responsible for coordinating transportation and related services for clients on Medical Assistance, including handling prior approvals, verifying and processing payment requests and invoices. This role involves frequent communication with both clients and transportation providers to ensure appropriate service delivery. Additional responsibilities include processing return mail, updating client records, reviewing incoming applications for completeness, and maintaining data tracking systems. The position also provides front desk support, assists clients with forms, and works within multiple state systems to complete referrals and support eligibility processes. Clerical duties such as scanning, printing, mailing, and filing are also part of the role, along with providing administrative support to eligibility workers.

Starting Pay: $25.25/hr to 29.18/hr
Rate of pay is the starting range based on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); and high school degree, or the equivalent, and in addition either:

  • three years of clerical experience and/or experience working with the public.
  • two years of clerical experience in public welfare/ human service agency; or
  • two years of experience as Community Service Aide or similar experience in a private non-profit or other public agency; or
  • two years of study at an accredited school with emphasis in behavioral sciences, business or closely related field.

  • Valid Driver’s License or evidence of equal mobility

Nature of Work:

This position is responsible for making defined decisions in supporting clients by identifying community services and resources; providing specialized information regarding clients' needs; and providing direct services to clients when requested. Responsibilities may include providing information to participants; reviewing information; interviewing participants; and maintaining and coordinating the collection and maintenance of related files.

Provides assistance through data entry of waiver screenings and service agreement documents. Trouble shoot edits and other issues with documents; resolve by strategizing with the social workers, providers, state and others who create and work with these documents.

Process CREST fund requests for Adult Mental Health/ CADI case managers. Ensures
that all the correct paperwork has been submitted. Enter data into SSIS service agreements, process final paperwork in a timely fashion for the issuing of funds
to clients.

Verifies coding, balances receipt and collects child support monies. Manages accounting, accounts receivable and cash drawer.

Manages assigned case loads which include enforcing child support court orders per state polices and procedures. Communication with clients is related to receipt of or collection of child support. Determines appropriate enforcement of actions for non-payment. Negotiates with clients to increase compliance.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

May occasionally lift 15-20 pounds. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation due to high amount of filing, compiling, calculating, or computer work. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, calculator, telephone, camera, and copier/scanner/fax machine. Occasional out of town travel may occur. Work interruptions are frequent. There is some pressure associated with project or activity deadlines. May also deal with individuals who may be emotionally charged.
