Summary
This position reports directly to the controller but is expected to take over important reconciliation and reporting duties for the company. The ideal individual will possess inherent leadership qualities as well as an attention to detail to ensure accurate reporting in all areas.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, expense and other journal entries by compiling and analyzing appropriate account information.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; and resolving any discrepancies.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Review inter-company transactions and generate invoices as necessary.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and follow up on items as necessary.
- Prepare schedules for and reconcile accrual, prepaid expense, CIP, receivable, depreciation, and amortization schedules, monthly.
- Prepare P&L and balance sheet account variance explanations.
- Assist controller in documenting operational and accounting processes and policies.
- Provide periodic general ledger account coding guidance to accounts payable staff.
- Assist Controller with preparation of annual and long-term budgeting processes.
- Assist Controller with routine reporting requirements.
- Assist Controller in initiatives to automate and standardize sub-system journal entries and reporting requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- 5 years’ experience in general ledger accounting.
- Experience with ERPs (M3, Infor or Movex experience a major plus).
- Experience with HFM or Hyperion a plus.
- Strong organizational aptitude.
- Collaborative self-starter with the ability to work well independently.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required (Master’s degree preferred).
