This role is ideal if you seek a long-term technician position or want to gain experience in process or mechanical engineering. We are looking for a self-starting, results-driven, team player. We're looking for either a student wanting to work part-time or a full-time tech pro.

Day to day as a Optics Post-Fab and Assemblies Technician

As a Moxtek Optics Post-Fab and Assemblies technician, you will engage in a variety of daily tasks crucial to the Optics manufacturing process. Your responsibilities include:

  • Create, audit, and update SOPs and work instructions, and recommend improvements.
  • Revise internal and customer-facing technical drawings using CAD software.
  • Implement process efficiencies to improve yield and increase outputs.
  • Train operators on job requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various tasks, projects, and non-standard orders (NSOs).
  • Troubleshoot processing issues to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.
  • Support experimental testing based on engineering instructions.
  • Document and summarize daily tasks.

Attention to detail is paramount, as you will document your findings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Your expected schedule will typically be Monday through Friday (TBD for students), allowing for a consistent work-life balance. Be prepared to adapt to dynamic project requirements and collaborate effectively with colleagues to solve challenges and achieve production goals.

What you need to be successful

To thrive as an Optics Post-Fab and Assemblies technician at Moxtek, you will need a blend of technical and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail is essential for ensuring the quality and precision of optics components. Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination will be critical when assembling delicate parts. Problem-solving skills are a must, as you'll encounter challenges that require creative solutions.

Other key qualifications include:

  • high school diploma required; AS or pursuing BS in science or engineering preferred
  • experience in optics manufacturing or related technical field highly valued
  • familiarity with (or interest in) SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and statistical software
  • strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • technical aptitude to follow detailed instructions and learn quickly
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • knowledge of algebra and statistics
  • interest in AI pipelines or image recognition is a plus

Preferred Experience:

  • background in optics, physics, or hardware component manufacturing
  • experience working in cleanroom environments or with technical assemblies
