PIZZA MAKER– MOZZERIA DC
Job Type: Part time
Reports to: Manager/Head Chef
SUMMARY
The Pizza Maker is responsible in providing quality food to customers consistently and courteous customer service, attention to detail, leadership,
and effectively work with staff members. The Pizza Maker also works closely with the Back of House and Front of House staff to deliver continuous topnotch dining experience.
Essential Functions:
- Willing to work in high heat environment (pizza ovens go up to 900 degrees) including stoves and ovens in the kitchen
- Understands that the pizza maker role involves continuous customer attention knowing that they are watching them as they are making pizza including interaction with other staff and employees
- Participate in rigorous training on making pizza dough, small plates, dessert, and obtaining a deep understanding of all the ingredients, measurements, pizza toppings
- Presents a professional appearance (i.e., clean uniform, well groomed)
- Maintains up to date knowledge of recipes, procedures and plating for all menus, specials and promotional entrees/meal kits
- Prepares pizza/small plates/entree items according to recipes or special order as needed
- Coordinates with back and front of house staff in order respond to customer needs and or exceed customer expectations
- Ensures that preparation areas as well as restaurant inventory are well stocked
- Maintains high standards of cleanliness, safety and food safety throughout
- Participates in routine restaurant deep cleaning, assists with opening and closing activities as needed
- Responsible for learning all Mozzeria systems, policies, procedures, and positions for effectively training team members
- Communicate with team members and participate in mandatory bi- weekly meetings and training sessions, and daily pre-shift meetings
- Assists with maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy environment by following as well as enforcing sanitation standards and procedures
(i.e., COVID-19), and complying with legal & human resources regulations
- Assists with maintaining restaurant overall ambiance by controlling lighting, linen, glassware, sanitizers, and utensils and placement, and monitoring food presentation and service
- Other duties as assigned by the management team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrates effective knowledge of the Food Service and
Hospitality industry
- Possesses a pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance
- Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service exceed expectations as well as standards
- Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant issues
- Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff
- Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to
4 hours in length.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs on a regular basis, throughout the shift.
- Must be able to push and pull equipment of various sizes and weights (i.e., 25lbs pot of hot water), throughout the shift.
- Must be able to kneel, bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks.
- Requires grasping, standing, walking, and repetitive motions
Qualifications:
- At least one year of professional experience within the food service or hospitality industry
- Local food safety health certification required prior to reporting to duty
- ServSafe Food Handler required within 30 days of employment
- Ability to communicate effectively in American Sign Language
