Position Summary :
The Vice President of National Accounts (VP) will be responsible for building and leading the initial creation and structure for a National Accounts function and team within the organization. This strategic leadership role will focus on developing and managing key relationships with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN’s), Distribution, and key channel partners. as well as negotiating and optimizing these contracts and relationships. The VP will be instrumental in creating a structured and scalable national accounts framework that drives business growth, strengthens market presence, and enhances customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in national account management, contract negotiation, and strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop and implement a comprehensive National Accounts strategy to support business objectives and drive growth across key accounts and markets.
Build and lead a high-performing National Accounts team, including recruitment, training, development, and performance management.Foster a culture of collaboration across departments (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Legal, Finance) to ensure alignment in meeting national account objectives.GPO and IDN Relationships & Contract Management :Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN’s) to increase market access and influence in targeted markets.
Lead the negotiation of GPO contracts, ensuring favorable terms for the company and maximizing business opportunities.Monitor and analyze contract performance, ensuring compliance, driving revenue growth, and identifying opportunities for contract renewals or expansion.Manage GPO-related initiatives and collaborate with sales and product teams to ensure offerings align with GPO requirements.Distribution Contract & Relationship Management :Oversee national distribution agreements and ensure optimal performance, profitability, and adherence to contractual terms.
Cultivate strong relationships with national distributors, providing them with ongoing support, training, and collaboration to maximize sales potential.Negotiate and manage distribution agreements, ensuring favorable terms, effective implementation, and performance monitoring.Collaborate with distribution partners to develop and execute go-to-market strategies that align with overall business goals.Revenue Growth & Market Expansion :Identify and pursue new national account opportunities to expand the company’s market footprint.
Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop tailored solutions that meet the needs of national accounts.Track and report on performance against national account targets, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions where necessary.Cross-functional Collaboration :Partner with internal teams such as Legal, Finance, and Operations to ensure seamless contract execution, compliance, and financial alignment.
Provide thought leadership and market insights to guide product development, pricing strategies, and go-to-market approaches.Reporting & Analysis :Develop and present regular performance reports on national account activities, including revenue, contract compliance, and opportunities for improvement.
Conduct regular competitive analysis to stay ahead of market trends and adjust strategies accordingly.Required Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.Experience :Minimum 10 years of experience in national account management, business development, or sales leadership.
Proven track record of building and managing GPO and distribution relationships, including successful contract negotiations.Experience in managing large-scale national accounts and complex distribution channels, ideally in [industry : healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, etc.].Strong understanding of GPO contracting processes and industry standards.Skills & Competencies :Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence senior executives and external stakeholders.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive favorable outcomes in complex contractual discussions.Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data and market trends to inform decision-making.Results-driven, with a strong focus on exceeding targets and objectives.Ability to work cross-functionally and foster collaboration between teams.Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.Preferred Qualifications :
