Job Title : Website Administrator / Web Developer (JavaScript & WordPress)

Location : Madison Heights, MI

Job Description : Mopec is seeking a skilled Website Administrator / Web Developer with expertise in both WordPress management and JavaScript development to ensure our website runs efficiently, remains up-to-date, and provides an optimal user experience. This role will involve maintaining and troubleshooting WordPress sites, developing custom JavaScript solutions (API, webhooks, etc.), and collaborating with internal teams as well as external developers and partners to improve website performance, functionality, and design.

Responsibilities :

Administer, maintain, and update WordPress sites, ensuring stability, security, and up-to-date content.
Customize WordPress themes, plugins, and templates based on specific business needs.
Write clean, scalable, and efficient JavaScript code for front-end and back-end features.
Implement and manage website features and functionality using JavaScript (e.g., AJAX, DOM manipulation, API integration).
Manage website security, backups, and updates to ensure the website is always operating optimally.
Collaborate with external developers and vendors on large-scale projects, feature implementations, and troubleshooting.
Coordinate and communicate with external development teams to ensure timely project delivery and alignment with business goals.
Assist in the development of custom themes, plugins, and widgets to enhance website functionality.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to WordPress, JavaScript, server configurations, and external integrations.
Implement SEO best practices to ensure optimal website visibility and ranking.
Monitor site performance (speed, uptime, etc.) and optimize accordingly using tools like Google PageSpeed, GTmetrix, etc.
Analyze user behavior and site analytics to suggest improvements and optimizations.
Provide technical support and training to internal teams on WordPress administration and JavaScript features.
Ensure compliance with web standards and best practices (responsive design, accessibility, etc.).
Collaborate with the marketing and design teams to ensure seamless integration of content and visual design with the website's functionality.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Proven experience in website administration, particularly with WordPress.

Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including ES6 features, DOM manipulation, event handling, and AJAX.

Experience working with WordPress themes and plugins, including installation, customization, and troubleshooting.

Familiarity with WordPress hooks, actions, filters, and shortcodes.

Experience with PHP and MySQL to manage WordPress backend tasks, including custom post types, database queries, and plugin development.

Proficient in writing SQL queries, optimizing database performance, and ensuring proper database maintenance.

Knowledge of front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js, etc.).

Experience working with version control systems (e.g., Git) and task management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).

Solid understanding of website security best practices for WordPress (e.g., SSL certificates, firewalls, malware scanning).

Knowledge of responsive design principles and experience with mobile-first development.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, especially in a web environment.

Experience with website optimization techniques (e.g., caching, image compression, minification).

Experience with web hosting environments (e.g., cPanel, FTP, SSH, etc.).

Ability to coordinate effectively with external developers, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet business requirements.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.

Preferred Skills :

Experience with popular page builders like Elementor or WPBakery.

Familiarity with eCommerce platforms like WooCommerce.

Experience with API integrations (REST, SOAP).

Knowledge of SEO tools and techniques (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Search Console).

Basic knowledge of server management (e.g., Apache, Nginx) and cloud hosting environments (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).

Familiarity with tools like Node.js, NPM, and task runners like Gulp or Webpack for front-end development.

Knowledge of SQL server programming and reporting.

Education and Experience :

3 years of professional experience in website administration and development with a focus on WordPress, JavaScript, and SQL.
