Overview
The Referral Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing patient referrals within a healthcare setting. This position involves coordinating communication between patients and healthcare providers, to ensure timely and accurate processing of referrals. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, great communication, as well as experience in a customer service setting. The Referral Coordinator will also need to uphold HIPAA regulations to always maintain patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Manage incoming and outgoing referral requests from patients and healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation related to referrals.
- Collaborate with medical offices and managed care organizations to facilitate seamless patient care.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations throughout the referral process.
- Provide support in resolving any issues related to referrals or authorizations.
- Incoming Faxes – Check multiple times day, disburse to correct department & respond to incoming faxes accordingly
- Contact New Referrals/ New Inquiries
- Answering phones and emails promptly for incoming inquiries and referrals
Authorization Preparation
- Request Updated MRx’s from pediatricians.
- Contact Pediatricians to Request NEW Authorization’s (RAF’s) – We are a Cencal provider.
- Fax documentation/ new authorization requests to pediatrician offices
Skills
- Medical Receptionist preferred
- Medical background preferred
- Organizational skills
- Time management
- Experience working in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of managed care processes and insurance verification preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and healthcare professionals
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
