What are the responsibilities and job description for the UTILITY LOCATOR position at MP Nexlevel, LLC?
Summary of Position:
The Utility Locator organizes locate tickets, travels to assigned work sites and performs locate identifying and marking underground utilities to prevent damage during construction projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Locate and mark Cable TV, electric, fiber, gas and copper lines using specialized equipment
- Read and understand locate tickets as well as maps, records, prints and other documentation to locate and mark utilities correctly
- Mark utility locations with paint, flags and stakes to indicate their position for construction crews
- Document the location of utilities and any issues or problems related to their positioning
- Work with contractors, homeowners and other stakeholders to obtain and provide information regarding public and private utility locations
- Work with Locates Admin to obtain maps and Gopher One Tickets
- Mark contracted facilities on job sites if required by a contract
- Set up and maintain safe work zones, including traffic control devices
- Safety training as required by position
- Paperwork filing and maintenance as needed
Essential Education and Qualifications:
- Previous utility locating experience
- Knowledge of different type of utilities and their typical construction
- Ability to interpret utility maps and survey data
- Must have strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Maintain strong, professional communication skills with homeowners, contractors and public
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Safe driving record

- Must be able to hear and see well to detect signals and sounds from locating equipment
- Must be physically fit to endure the daily activity involved with the job including bending, walking, standing and stooping for extended periods of time

- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
