BACKHOE OPERATOR

Summary of Position :

An Operator should possess a fundamental understanding of construction and be able to operate different construction equipment and too

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Setup, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites
• Install and maintain underground and aerial telecommunications cabling
• Ability to safely operate a certain piece of equipment such as plow, backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, or skid steer
• Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewmen and all moving or stationary persons / vehicles / objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
• Wash / clean, grease, oil and do daily maintenance of equipment
• Use hand tools to dig around existing utilities when necessary
• Load and unload tools, materials and equipment
• Maintain safe working habits / conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies
• Report any equipment repairs needed to Foreman or Supervisor
• Light repair and maintenance of tools and equipment
• Drive company vehicles to and from job site which may include use of tractor / trailers
• Safety training as required by position
• Paperwork filing and maintenance as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Pay Range : $25 - $40 per hour
