Job Summary
The Managing Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, operational and financial performance of the site. This includes the full P&L, from revenue to PBT, and balance sheet including cash conversation, net working capital and capex. This role also provides exposure to a global organization giving you the opportunity to contribute to the overall success of the business.
You are responsible for managing cross-functional teams, overseeing and optimizing the organization's operational processes, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and alignment with the strategic objectives. This role involves, developing operational strategies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
The Managing Director serves as the primary point of contact for the site, aligning local operations with corporate strategies and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and standards.
As Managing Director, collaboration is key, this includes, collaboration with the
Sales teams driving OE order intake and with the service teams delivering support to customers. Collaboration with other Managing Directors is pivotal to achieving operational excellence across the organization. You will foster a culture of partnership and open communication where cross-departmental synergies can be leveraged to optimize processes, align strategies, and enhance overall performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the site’s strategic and operational plans in alignment with the businesses overall vision and five-year strategy.
- Fostering collaboration by actively engaging with the MDs at other sites.
- Promoting and encouraging effective team cross-collaboration throughout the Group.
- Align operations with organizational strategy, ensuring scalability and sustainability.
- Identify and drive initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track site success.
Operational Oversight:
- Responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning to final delivery, while maintaining quality standards and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Oversee daily site operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and compliant processes.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring effective collaboration between departments.
- Manage resource allocation, including staffing, budgets, and infrastructure, to meet site goals.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the site’s budget, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Monitor financial performance, addressing variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure cost-effective operations and identify areas for cost optimization.
- Responsible for monitoring and controlling working capital to ensure the business maintains optimal liquidity and financial stability. This involves managing the balance between current assets and liabilities to support day-to-day operations, fund growth, and minimize financial risks.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high performing site leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Deliver effective, empowering and engaging operational leadership across a large and diverse team, resulting in highly motivated and engaged teams.
- Actively engage in the development and retention of high potential talent, creating a succession plan for critical roles to ensure organizational stability and continuity.
- Foster a culture of learning and development, encouraging continuous skill enhancement within the team
- Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for staff at all levels.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure the site adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
- Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively.
- Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the primary representative of the site to internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and community partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support site objectives.
- Communicate site performance, challenges, and opportunities to the senior leadership team
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 8 years of progressive leadership experience, including site or business unit management.
- Proven track record of achieving operational and financial targets.
