What are the responsibilities and job description for the Calibration Technician position at MPD INC?
Maintains and updates a ISO 9001/AS9100 calibration system for simple and complex electronic, mechanical and elector-mechanical measuring equipment. Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles, related science disciplines and current techniques to evaluate technical input and perform problem solving. Cooperate and coordinate with managers, supervisors, engineers and working leaders on new and existing calibration procedure development.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Calibrates and confirms proper operation of complex equipment used for product and process evaluation and measurement using AS9100 management system procedures and instructions.
- Maintains various calibration records and equipment history files.
- Develops and updates calibration procedures, instructions and other documentation.
- Prepares gauge calibration, work orders, Status Reports and non-conforming Device Notices.
- Enters required data into calibration control database.
- Prepares necessary purchasing requests for outside services and any needed equipment.
- Prepares engineering change request forms to revise calibration work sheets and procedures for necessary revisions.
- Works directly with internal customer, external customer, registrar and governmental personnel during audits and surveys.
- Works with all companies within MPD Inc.. Works with managers, supervisors, engineers and working leaders to develop and update calibration procedures and instructions.
- Works with other company employees when required to perform calibrations.
- Help ensure the technical requirements of the ISO 17025 standard and of the calibration laboratory quality management system are met. Participate in internal and external audits as necessary.
- Works with outside calibration providers as to services required, shipping/receiving calibrated equipment, and arranging in-house calibration visits.
SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Contributes technical advice and creative ideas to managers, supervisors, engineers and working leaders, especially in his/her own technical field, relevant to development of measuring devices and techniques.
- This Position Guide is to be supplemented by written goals, plans and standards of performance as approved by the appropriate manager.
- Two year technical degree from an accredited Technical College or two years of equivalent electronics experience.
- American Society for Quality Certified Calibration Technician preferred.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of basic AC and DC electric circuits and understand electrical measuring techniques to insure accurate measurements and maintain a safe working environment.
- Proficient in the use of gauges, fixtures, hand tools, calipers and other physical dimension measuring devices.
- High degree of motivation and sense of responsibility. Demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of company employees and outside providers/auditors.
- May be required to obtain a security clearance.
- Position requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, sitting, and reaching motions.
- Basic to advanced computer skills, especially MS Word and Excel.
