What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Running Coach position at MPower Youth Sports?
We are looking for vibrant, enthusiastic assistant coaches for our youth running program! Our mission is to spread a lifelong love of running and fitness to boys and girls ages 6-14. Whether it's for the sheer love of running, to improve endurance or speed for another sport, or just to try something new, our goal is to inspire children by building their confidence, celebrating personal bests, and having fun!
This is a great "side gig" with minimal hours required on a weekly basis. Our current openings are in Windsor and Avon, CT.
What You Will Do:
- Start as an assistant coach in one or more of our existing towns for the 2025 spring season to gain experience with our program. Our season will begin the week of April 21.
- Attend weekly 1-hour practices for a period of 7 weeks, and the season-ending 5K in June. Practices are in the evenings from 5-6pm.
- There will be additional opportunities to coach with us in our fall season as either an assistant or a head coach.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Enjoy working with children ages 6-14.
- Love running and be ready to run with the children throughout practice. You must be able to run at least 2 miles!
- Bring a positive, encouraging attitude to every practice.
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with children and their parents.
Other nice-to-have skills:
- Experience running Cross Country or general road races is preferred, but not required.
- Previous youth coaching or fitness training experience
Why You'll Love Us:
The goal of every MPower practice is to make each of our athletes feel like they worked hard, improved, and (most importantly) had fun. Our training program allows us to challenge each level of runner in different ways. Celebrating EVERY runner’s personal best, no matter what that is, is how we motivate and inspire each and every child to work hard for themselves. Our goal is to create a safe, and non-competitive environment that allows kids to reach their full potential.
