What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer position at MPP?
The Process Engineer is an integral part of the Engineering Department and work closely with the Quality Assurance Team, which includes Technicians and Engineers. The process engineer acts as the liaison to the customer and supplier by serving as the key contact for all product manufactured in our Rockwood Facility thus will develop strong relationships through appropriate communication, documentation, problem-solving, and follow-up. The process engineer will be responsible for facilitating all aspects of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process at our Rockwood location. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following.
Implement and maintain the production process flow.
Develop working instructions, workmanship standards and process documents, and ensure they are followed.
Improve continually existing operation, for increased quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings.
Investigate operational problems affecting production and reporting and recommending solutions.
Manage manufacturing documentation required for product manufacturing i.e. revise drawing, BOM, accurate work instructions and workmanship standards and process procedures.
Provide manufacturing data i.e. production control charts, reliability, process capability, to improve the process and monitor and measure progress to target.
Identify ways to reduce production costs through recommendations justification to improve performance.
Develop and document control plans, flow diagrams, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Work with design engineering on DFX (design for excellence) to include design for cost and design for manufacturability.
Work with other relevant departments to determine estimated costs, run time, cost reduction and close loop.
Establish a training and quality culture.
This position requires a high degree of quality, analytical thinking and problem- solving skills. A thorough understanding of the powder metallurgy manufacturing processes is desired. The successful candidate must have a hands-on approach to resolving problems and implementing corrective actions.
Candidates for this position must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (industrial engineering / mechanical engineering) as well as 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the powder metal industry.
