Job Summary:
The Inside Sales Representative will be vital in generating revenue by working alongside the M/I Outside Sales Team to process and manage customer purchase and rental opportunities. Works with branch team members to ensure adequate product levels are available for customer purchase. Develops business across multiple sales avenues, explicitly focusing on water, wastewater industries, gas distribution, environmental, mining, irrigation, and engineering firms. Identifies customer needs through consultation and creates sales quotes/orders to meet customer requirements. Maintains customer relationships through communication, support, and high-level customer service.
Essential Functions:
- Works with the Branch Manager(s) and Outside Sales Team to recognize and cultivate potential sales leads from existing and prospective customers.
- Responds to all incoming customer requests via telephone or email.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of Milford's products and services and how they can benefit Milford's customers.
- Process and maintain customer orders, as well as vendor purchase orders.
- Maintain a strong customer relationship after the sale through follow-up meetings or phone calls.
- Develop clear communication channels for new and existing customers.
- Identify customer product needs and create sales quotes/orders.
- Develop clear and compelling written proposals based on customer requests.
- Partner with the Regional Director of Sales, M/I Sales Lead, and Outside Sales Team regarding customer account activity, invoicing requirements, and customer feedback on products and services
- Partners with clients, vendors, and Milford's Credit and A/R Team members to quickly resolve customer service issues.
- Capable of learning/comprehending municipal bid drawings and packages
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Business Management is preferred but optional.
- 2 or more years of verifiable experience in the municipal and industrial supply, customer service, or a sales support position
- Pipe, valve, and fitting experience is a plus but not required.
- Self-starting personality
- Ability to learn, present, and support multiple product lines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Business Central, or other CRM/ERP software
- Strong time management, organization, and ability to multitask.
- Ability to interact with decision-makers at all levels of an organization.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled at handling large volumes of phone calls and emails
- Knowledge of general safety skills
- Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds.
SCHEDULE: Available to work during regular operating hours with the ability to work extended hours when required by the Branch Manager and Regional Director of Sales. “On Call” duties required.
