Maintenance Technician

Production Paint Stripping (PPS) is a leading provider of paint stripping and metal cleaning services, having serviced the automotive and aerospace industries of southern Ontario for 30 years. PPS operates paint stripping facilities in Ontario and the United States.

We are looking for a multi-skilled, high performing individual to join our team as a Maintenance Technician at out facility in Fairborn. This position is a full-time, day shift position, scheduled to work Monday to Friday and weekends as needed.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating maintenance plans, conducting routine maintenance and inspections on a variety of equipment and systems, and maintain equipment functionality to ensure the safe and efficient operations at our facility - within company budget.

The Maintenance Technician will work closely with the Plant Manager and other team members to uphold the company’s culture of clean, safety standards, and efficient operation of the equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

· The main function of the role is to develop, maintain, and implement a preventative maintenance program for all the equipment at the facility.

· Coordinate with and call-in contractors at the site for specialized repairs, when required.

· Monitor the maintenance expenses and budget to complete maintenance needs withing company budget.

· Perform routine maintenance and inspections on machinery, including forklifts, cranes, tank heaters, and transfer pumps.

· Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including tank heaters, trailers, waste treatment systems, troubleshoot PLs, fabrication tasks, and work on HVAC systems (in collaboration with licensed contractors, when required).

· Conduct safety equipment checks (e.g., fire sprinklers, welding equipment, tank mixers, etc).

· Look for continuous improvement opportunities within our Plant and take action with management approval.

· General daily housekeeping tasks and required paperwork.

· Potential to expand responsibilities between two PPS facilities.

· Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus.

· 3-5 years of experience and exposure to an equipment or maintenance environment within an automotive/industrial workplace.

· Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods, basic hand tools for general equipment repair.

· Demonstrated ability and willingness to trouble shoot and resolve various problems (equipment, personnel, administrative).

· Demonstrated leadership qualities.

· Strong communication skills, both oral and written communications.

· Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

· Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to move up to 50 Lbs., with or without accommodation.

· Ability to maintain a consistent workload that involves physical manual labor.

· Ability to maintain alertness and fitness for duty.

· Ability to position oneself for work conducted in and around confined spaces.

· Ability to wear respirators in environments that may expose you to chemicals, fumes, etc.

· Ability to maintain workloads that may include travel to a variety of states for days or weeks, and daily timeframes that could exceed the typical 8-hour shift.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
