JOB SUMMARY
A Project Estimator is responsible for estimating the costs associated with a project, including labor, materials, equipment, and other resources. They analyze project specifications, drawings, and proposals to prepare accurate cost estimates and ensure that the project stays within budget. The Project Estimator collaborates with project managers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information, assess potential risks, and identify cost-saving opportunities. This role is essential in supporting the preparation of competitive bids and contracts while maintaining a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and project timelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Cost Estimation: Manage project estimations including materials, labor, and timelines required for completion. Prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Bid Preparation: Ensure bids are competitive while maintaining profitability and align with the insurance approvals and customer approvals.
- Site Inspections: Conduct site inspections as needed to gather project information
- Issue Resolution: Identify and address conflicts or problems that arise during the course of the project.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all project activities, including timelines, resources, and milestones.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including other departments, to ensure smooth project execution
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Project Estimating Knowledge: Strong understanding of estimating reconstruction principles and practices.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Xactimate (REQUIRED) or Symbility/Claims Connect, CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and mobile technology (smartphone, tablet, etc.).
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate challenges effectively.
- Multitasking and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Safety and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with industry safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Organization and Detail Orientation: Excellent organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing schedules and priorities. Ability to work overtime as needed and be on a rotational on-call basis
- Transportation and Travel: Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel as needed.
- Quick Learner: Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly; proactive and self-motivated.
- Language Skills: Proficient in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required.
- Background Check: Successful completion of a background check is required.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in the mitigation and reconstruction industry
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a field-related position
- High school diploma or equivalent
