Job Summary
The Mitigation Technician is responsible for the extraction of water, drying, and dehumidification of affected areas, and preventing further damage. They assess the extent of water damage, create mitigation plans, and execute the necessary steps to restore properties to a safe and habitable condition. This includes mold remediation, cleaning, and sanitizing affected areas, and documenting the entire process for insurance and record-keeping purposes
Essential Duties & Other Responsibilities
- Water Extraction: Removing standing water from affected areas using specialized equipment.
- Drying and Dehumidification: Setting up and monitoring drying equipment to ensure proper drying of structures and contents.
- Mold Remediation: Identifying and removing mold growth to prevent further damage and health risks.
- Damage Assessment: Inspecting properties to assess the extent of water damage and creating a mitigation plan.
- Documentation: Keeping detailed records of the mitigation process, including photos, moisture readings, and work logs.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Cleaning and sanitizing affected areas to prevent contamination and odor.
- Demolition and Removal: Removing damaged materials that cannot be salvaged, such as drywall and flooring.
- Customer Communication: Communicating with property owners and insurance adjusters to explain the mitigation process and provide updates.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including other departments, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Team Leadership: Foster a collaborative and positive team environment to encourage high performance and strong morale.
Skills & Requirements
- Restoration Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of contents restoration processes and procedures.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and mobile technology (smartphone, tablet, etc.).
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate challenges effectively.
- Multitasking and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Safety and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with industry safety regulations and compliance standards.

- Background Check: Successful completion of a background check is required.
Education, Training, & Experience
- Experience in the mitigation and reconstruction industry required
- IICRC certified in Water Damage Restoration Technician, Fire and Smoke, and/or Odor Control, preferred
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a related position
- Knowledge and experience with chemical products, disposal, and use on varying surfaces
- High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Demands
- Physically fit and able to work in varying conditions
- Frequently lifting 5-50 lbs. May occasionally lift 100 lbs.
- May require working at heights over 5 ft periodically
- Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
