Position Summary
The Fleet Coordinator for Mr. Crane will oversee and support all procurement activities related to cranes, lifting equipment, spare parts, and related services across all locations. This role involves collaborating with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality parts and equipment, optimizing costs, and fostering strong supplier relationships. With expertise in sourcing, contract negotiation, and inventory management, the Fleet Coordinator will play a critical role in meeting Mr. Crane’s operational needs with a strong sense of urgency. Additionally, this position will supervise the Warehouse Parts & Inventory Specialist, assist with service scheduling and work order tracking, coordinate with service vendors, and manage day-to-day activities to ensure seamless operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Vendor Management:
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring the timely delivery of quality goods and services.
- Regularly evaluate potential vendors and suppliers based on their reliability, reputation, and ability to meet the organization's quality and performance standards.
- Stay informed about industry trends, new crane models, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Cost Negotiation:
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contractual agreements with suppliers to achieve cost savings and improve overall procurement efficiency.
- Procurement Planning and Execution
- Collaborate with internal departments to align procurement plans with project requirements and organizational goals.
- Understand crane and equipment specifications and timelines to prepare accurate purchase orders.
- Conduct market analyses to identify sourcing opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Enforce and adhere to company purchasing policies.
- Inventory and Quality Management
- Establish quality control measures to ensure materials meet industry standards and project specifications.
- Work with the Fleet Manager to implement inventory management strategies, optimizing stock levels while minimizing costs.
- Fleet Services Support and Reporting
- Manage work order flow and provide real-time updates.
- Respond promptly to emergency part requests (STAT requests) and ensure clear communication with stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on key procurement metrics, including supplier performance, cost savings, and equipment uptime.
- Assist with shop administration tasks, including work orders, vehicle service scheduling, tire repairs, and parts management.
- Contribute to the development of SOPs to improve tracking and servicing efficiency.
- Legal Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and certifications related to cranes and lifting equipment during the procurement process.
- Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement best practices and industry-specific requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Education or equivalent. AA or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License Required.
- Minimum of 3 years of procurement experience, preferably in the crane or heavy equipment industry.
- Experience with contract negotiation and drafting is preferred.

- Crane Industry Expertise: in-depth knowledge of crane parts, specifications, and industry standards.
