The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and experience in estimating electrical systems for a variety of project types.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed electrical cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and residential projects, covering labor, materials, and subcontractor costs
- Blueprint & Specification Review: Analyze electrical plans, blueprints, and project requirements to determine scope and cost
- Supplier & Vendor Coordination: Obtain and evaluate competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Bid Development: Prepare and submit bids that are competitive and aligned with project specifications
- Cost & Risk Analysis: Assess labor costs, material fluctuations, and potential project risks to ensure profitability
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to refine estimates and address project needs
- Software Utilization: Utilize industry-standard estimation software and Microsoft Excel for accurate calculations
- Compliance & Industry Standards: Ensure estimates meet NEC (National Electrical Code) and other relevant regulations
- Experience in electrical estimating within commercial and industrial construction (residential experience is a plus)
- Proficiency in estimation software (ConEst or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret complex electrical blueprints and technical specifications
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple estimates and meet deadlines
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not required)
- 3 years of experience in electrical estimating, project management, or electrical contracting
- Strong understanding of NEC and local electrical codes
