Infant Teacher
Shift Hours : 9am-5 : 30pm
POSITION OVERVIEW : Discover Zone Teachers are essential team players by providing love, care, safety and education to the little ones in our care. A DZ Teacher is responsible for the students in their care, their classroom and working cooperatively to help the whole center achieve our mission.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Organize and provide developmentally appropriate early childhood education programs in a classroom setting by :
Planning and implementing the provided curriculums and education for the children in your care.
Providing activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, healthy growth, exploration and problem solving appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of children in your care.Manage a busy classroom environment, and provide the structure and discipline required for successful learning for everyone in the classroom by :Planning and preparing the classroom setting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Overseeing the safety of the children in the classroom through constant and diligent supervisionProviding a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.Learning licensing requirements and making sure the room is always in compliance.Help children meet educational milestones through personalized instruction and other supplementary assistance.Teach in a manner that meets the needs for the ages and abilities of all participating students.
Writing and compiling individual assessments of each child’s development and completing daily inventories and related reports.Create a collaborative relationship with parents and families by :Provide helpful feedback to parents and guardians on a regular (daily) or as-needed basis.
Maintaining open and cooperative communication with parents and familiesEncouraging family involvement in the program and classroomSupporting the child’s family relationships.Collaborate with other teachers, instructors, and staff members to create an optimal learning and care environment by :Actively participating in staff training and team building opportunities.
Speaking kindly and showing compassion and understanding to other staff members.Supporting a healthy and beneficial relationship with Florence Christian Church by working collaboratively with all staff to ensure that the childcare center aligns with the Church's mission.QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Meet all state requirements for employment including background checks, 15 training annually, health and safety tests, annual evaluation and professional development and any additional eligibility requirements.Must be familiar with and committed to the church and Discover Zone’s mission and message.Be a team player contributing to a positive work environment including a positive and calm demeanor.Be professional in manner and appearance.Work with integrity and maintain confidentiality.Courteous and tactful with parents, visitors, church members, volunteers, and employees.Be an able and willing member of the Discover Zone and church staff team.Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.A willingness and desire to improve your skills through training and coaching.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High school diploma or GED required. CDA or higher education preferred.Experience working directly with children (in a childcare or classroom setting is preferred)Able to meet all regulatory and new hire requirements.WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Time is spent in the Discover Zone and church campus including outdoor playgrounds.Must be able to multi-task and meet regular daily and weekly duties.Must be able to lift 40 pounds, move, get up and down from the floor, walk up and down stairs, and walk on uneven ground and carry.We Make it Easy
