Purpose of the Position:
The Operations Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of employees in the automation department. Ensure employees are engaged in designing, installing, integration and repairing automation equipment. They will be maintaining the schedules of our technicians, overseeing integration projects, service projects and PM services as it relates to the automation department. This position is responsible for meeting goals set-forth by the Leadership Team and works in accordance with the company core values and culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead, manage and hold the automation team accountable
• Maintain the EOS/Traction operations through department meetings and establishing, monitoring and achieving department goals and objectives
• Communicate and cultivate the Company’s Core Values internally and externally
• Provide work direction, project scheduling, feedback and coaching of automation technicians
• Provide guidance to team in their troubleshooting, project management, equipment design, qualification activities, validations and other tasks
• Conduct regular employee evaluations and performance reviews
• Develop and standardize training requirements to build the capabilities of a driven and diverse team
• Ensure technicians maintain all vendor certificates
• Provide departmental succession planning through cross-training and mentoring
• Develop and maintain company standards for design, documentation, programming, and fabrication
• Work closely with the Sales department to manage the customer project needs
• Serve as main contact for customers regarding automation service related projects
• Forecast and maintain company budget for the department using forecast of previous growth
• Utilize company ERP system to generate data analytics to move the department forward
Education, Experience and Skills:
• Associates Degree in related course work, such as electrical, computer programming or automation/robotics
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in project engineering or project management for machine design or process automation is desired
• Experience with successful implementation of multiple projects or machines for process automation
• Demonstrated successful leadership / supervisory experience
• Previous industrial control programming and mechanical design experience
• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD, and Solid Works Packages
• Strong communication skills and ability to speak with various levels of an organization
• Proficient computer in Microsoft Office Environment and familiar with ERP Software
• Must be organized, have good reasoning skills, math aptitude, and time management skills
Equipment Used:
• Company provided equipment such as telephone, computer, printers, hand tools, hand
carts, etc.
• Computer programs and company ERP software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Required safety gear such as safety glasses and steeled toe shoes
Job Specifications/Requirements:
Ability to sit for a prolonged period of time with occasional walking, twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, and repetitive motions. Frequent lifting/carrying of 25 pounds is required, may at times lift up to 75 pounds. Reoccurring pushing/pulling of 25lbs. Ability to work in moderately warm or cold conditions where high noise levels are possible. Occasionally travel between company locations to provide support to all service and automation departments. Willingness to travel for training, conferences and to customer sites.
